LGBTQ+ Youth and Homelessness

Though we are consistently moving towards LGBTQ+ equality throughout the United States, it is important to remember that many members of this community are not treated equally, regardless of . LGBTQ+ youth often face an especially trying struggle as dependents who must deal with coming out to their family and support systems with heightened risks of losing them. As the campus Queer Peer Services Coordinator, I believe it is usually best to come out at a time when you have a good and solid support system. Three million young Americans are homeless, with LGBTQ+ youth making up a disproportionately large section of this group. Check out this iconography from Human Rights Campaign, courtesy of Feministing.com to learn more! Remember to support our community in every way possible; be an advocate and things will change.
